Android push spam green “plus” or red star – Bloat Freezer Free
Posted: January 7, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »Recently I started getting several push messages to my Android phone, containing spam, and after a bit of googling I installed AirPush detector and Addons Detector.
AirPush detector couldn’t find anything, and Addons Detector found addons, but does not have any alert system that I know of, so it was a bit like searching for that needle in the haystack.
I started uninstalling crap that I have installed, but still I had it. Then, after an update of Addons Detector, I found a program with push notification listed there, and it turned up that the guilty app is Bloat Freezer Free.
The app is no longer in Android Market.
High load on Firefox process after starting Chromium
Posted: January 7, 2012 Filed under: Jots Leave a comment »Just wanted to mention that I had a Firefox running with around 10 tabs, some of them with quite heavy ajax/js. That goes just fine, even on the crappy old computer I am using right now.
I fired up Chromium to check mail on a different account, and Chromium was running fine, but Firefox started to eat both cpu and memory.
Quit Chromium, and Firefox was just fine again.
Just wanted to mention it. Most likely just a coincidence, and I don’t bother trying to reproduce.
Use Dreamhost as git server
Posted: January 7, 2012 Filed under: Git, Howtos Leave a comment »It is explained pretty good here: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Git.
This is how I did it:
You need git installed, and a project. I use Ubuntu 11.10 at the moment, but it should work on most linuxes or on macs.
1. cd /your/project/
2. git init. Now you have a git project with no files added.
3. git add . Now you have the files added.
4. git commit -a -m”initial commit” First commit.
5. ssh user@yourdreamhost.com Your username on your dreamhost server. Not actually user@yourdreamhost.com
6. mkdir Projects
7. cd Projects
8. mkdir yourprojectname.git
9. cd yourprojectname.git
10. git –init bare
11. exit
12. go back to your project directory
13. git remote add origin ssh://user@yourdreamhost.com/~/Projects/yourprojectname.git
14. git push origin master
That’s it!
Yeah, and for convenience: ssh-copy-id user@yourdreamhost.com , and you add your certificate to the server so that you don’t have to log in with a password.
Don’t do that on computers you share with others if you don’t trust them!
Feedback form scripts
Posted: November 29, 2011 Filed under: Links Leave a comment »Links and some comments to feedback systems and scripts.
There are many more, but of those I found, these are worth a mention.
User Rules – Basic version free
Kampyle – Not free
Get Satisfaction – Looks like lots of features, starts at $19/mo
Uservoice – Basic plan is free
WebEngage – Basic plan does not include feedbacks
Feedbacker Bakarbox – Looks simple – Sais “free forever”. Wants your email.
Opineo – More like a poll. No text feedback. Looks shiny.
Tender Support – Support system with feedback
Idea Informer – Looks great! Absolutely free – where’s the catch?
Idea Torrent – Free open source. DIY. Looks nice too.
UserReport. Free. They collect statistics and sell them.

I accidentally deleted my database
Posted: October 16, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: Dreamhost, support Leave a comment »Friday, as I wanted to log on to techjot.net, I found that the database was gone with no trace.
After a bit of investigation I didn’t find any reason. It was just gone.
I sent a support mail to Dreamhost, not expecting much, but they couldn’t only help me get the database back, they could tell me that it was deleted by/via my ip, which very likely means that I have deleted it by accident.
A million thanks, and lots of thumbs up to Dreamhost!
If you want to see what dreamhost is, you can join here: Dreamhost (I naturally added my referral, which makes me a few bucks if you join.)
Yea, and if you want, use one of these codes to get some benefits ( I think they all work);
51OFF4U “$51 off any payment period plan”
UNIQIP or UNIKIP “free unique ip address”
2NAMEREGS “2 free domain regs”
2YR “$97 discount 2 years plan”
RORULES “$97 discount yearly period”
Thanks again, Dreamhost
